Training objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge on waste management in relation to:
- basic technical elements
- legal elements
- enviromental elements
The main skills ( the ability to apply knowledge acquired) will be:
- analyze the organizational methods of collection systems
- asses the enviromental impacts of the treatment plants and recycling
- assessing the economics of waste management Prerequisites
- Students must have acquired:
- knowledge of the basic concepts of physics and applied physics
- knowledge of the basic concepts of chemistry Course programme
- The course includes classroom lessons with the following program:
1. legal elements for waste management : definitions, classifications, required authorizations (4 hours)
2. chemical and biological analysis of solid waste (2 hours)
3. EMAS certification, green public procurement, eco-labels (2 hours)
4. methods for the prevention, collection and waste separation and their economic assessment (2 hours)
5. mechanical and biological treatment (2 hours)
6. waste to energy (3 hours)
7 inerting (1 hour)
8. sanitary landfill and landfill mining (3 hours)
9. treatment of liquid wastes (2 hours)
10. a technical output at the incinerator of Ferrara (3 hours9 Didactic methods
- classroom lectures with use of slides or other visual aids
Learning assessment procedures
- The aim of the examination is to verify the level of learning in relation to:
- the knowledge of enviromental legislation
- the ability to organize a service evaluating the technical, economic and organizational aspects
- the knowledge of the operating principles and the main enviromental impacts of waste recovery and waste disposal
The exam consist of an oral test
The test will be evaluated in particular the ability to link and compare different aspects treated her during the course Reference texts
